Advent Week 1
Dec 8, 2024 • Stephen Palm
In Genesis 22 Abraham is faced with an impossible choice. The God he loves who miraculously provided a son for he and Sarah has now commanded him to sacrifice that son, Isaac. As Abraham and Isaac are climbing Mt. Moriah to sacrifice to the Lord, Isaac innocently says, we have wood and the means of starting a fire, but where’s the lamb? Abraham assures him that God would provide a lamb. As we move into the account of Jesus’ birth, we see that once again, God has provided a sacrificial lamb for His people. That lamb, Jesus had come to take away the sin of the world. However, this gift of salvation requires a choice. Have you accepted God’s sacrifice and made God’s lamb your Lord?
