Justified and Reconciled

Justified and Reconciled

Passage: Romans 5:1-11

Speaker: Pastor Ryan Shannon

Series: Identity: Who We Are In Christ

Category: Christian Living

This week the story of our identity is resolved in the courts. The word justified is a legal term which means “declared not guilty.” Our identity before Jesus was that we were felons in God’s eyes. That’s what a sinner is… a spiritual felon. Stripped of citizenship. No voting rights. No entitlements. No freedom. But Jesus stood in the gap for us. He pardoned us and when God’s gavel fell, we were declared “not guilty”. But not only did our status change. Our relationship with God changed. We went from being alienated from God to being reconciled. The wall of separation between us and God has been torn down, thanks to Jesus’ work on the cross.
