The Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit

The Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit

Passage: Matthew 12:22-32

Speaker: Pastor Stephen Palm

Series: Matthew: The King and His Kingdom

Category: Expository Book Study

The wars between Jesus and the Pharisees have reached their boiling point. Despite the growing opposition from the Jewish religious leaders. Our Lord continues to bring hope and mercy to the afflicted by healing a demon possessed man. This led the multitudes who witnessed this miracle to ask the most important question of all time, “can this be the Son of David?” But not everyone in the crowd responded kindly. The Pharisees are jealous of Jesus growing popularity with the people. In an attempt to permanently derail his ministry, they attribute his power to the work of Satan, thereby blaspheming the Holy Spirit. It is here they cross the threshold of unbelief from which they will never return. Because they continually rejected all the evidence before them that Jesus power and purpose was from God. This leads us to the all-important question; can this same sin be committed day? We will explore that answer in this week’s message.
