Paul and Barnabas at Lystra
This sermon discusses Paul and Barnabas' experiences during their First Missionary Journey, focusing on their visit to Lystra, the healing of a lame man, and the subsequent reaction of the local pagan crowd. Paul and Barnabas face challenges while sharing the gospel in Lystra, adapting their approach to a pagan audience. In this text we also see that God was not willing to leave the Gentiles with only the witness of nature. The Special Revelation of the Gospel is now being proclaimed so that they can more fully understand God's goodness and purpose for their lives. We will also see, once again, that the results of our preaching are very much in God's hands. The people of Lystra prove to be very determined in their ways and unwilling to accept the new truths set before them. It's a reminder to us that we need to be patient and creative in our proclaiming of God's Good News.
